Our environmental team provides services related to the human and community-based aspects of natural resource management. Service areas include, Aboriginal consultation and engagement, Traditional Land Use Assessment and Traditional Knowledge integration, training, facilitation and environmental planning, and monitoring.
Our team offers extensive experience implementing and managing Aboriginal consultation and engagement and traditional land and resource use activities as part of the environmental assessment process. Our approach to engagement encourages the development of long-lasting relationships with communities and assists the integration of cultural values into project planning and environmental activities. We ensure project regulatory processes and timelines are managed and can identify various opportunities for Aboriginal and community participation throughout a project’s lifecycle.
Our team has successfully managed and facilitated stakeholder participation in environmental planning and decision-making processes on behalf of government, industry, Aboriginal communities and multi-stakeholder groups throughout Alberta. We have worked with organizations and communities to develop strategic management processes and protocols on an array of projects and provide guidance to clients regarding project planning and implementation. Training is an integral component of our work in all areas. We work closely with clients to identify capacity needs and develop training initiatives with flexible learning options that can be adjusted to accommodate various audiences.
Our team has designed and implemented participatory monitoring programs that blend community interests with project and planning objectives. We have experience working with communities to integrate traditional knowledge, traditional land use and cultural resource site protection measures into existing monitoring efforts and we have coordinated community involvement in monitoring programs on behalf of industry, government and First Nations. We work in varying capacities to facilitate Aboriginal participation in the development and on-going management of monitoring programs.
